“Absolutely amazing hosts and location”
“My boyfriend and I spent two weeks at Martinique and would 100% stay here again. Ken and Collin were absolutely fantastic – they’re both super friendly, always happy to help, and are super knowledgeable about the area. They booked all of our outings, and even arranged for us to get certified as scuba divers while we were there–something we were worried we wouldn’t be able to do in Port Douglas and might have to go to Cairns for.
In our two weeks, we got certified as scuba divers, went on fourteen dives, hiked through the rainforest, went parasailing and jet skiing, zip lined through the rainforest, went on a night-time tour of the Wildlife Habitat (which included feeding kangaroos and attempted feeding of other critters), and spent a day at Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures–all of which was booked through Martinique via Ken and Collin (except for Hartley’s which doesn’t need bookings). They were absolutely spectacular hosts and we cannot recommend highly enough. Ken had encyclopedic knowledge of all the things you could do in the area (which is a lot).
The accommodations were large, clean, and affordable with a bedroom separate from the living space, a kitchen, and a balcony. Complimentary towels were also available for our dives, beach trips, and any time we wanted to frequent their pool. The location was fantastic as well–a five minute walk from several great restaurants, as well as a 5-minute walk from 4-mile beach.”

“We’ve been regular visitors to Port Douglas for the past five years – often 2-3 times a year – and after staying at a number of comfortable, well managed places we’ve found one that tops the lot for our holiday criteria.
Under new management of Colin and Ken, Martinique on Macrossan is a standout for quietness, comfort, cleanliness, location and layout. Ken and Colin have done a magnificent job in only a few months of ownership to turn around what was previously a tiring apartment block into a highly desirable destination only a 100 metres from Four Mile Beach in one direction, and the Port Douglas shops and restaurants in the other.
The apartments were spotlessly clean (and serviced thoroughly every four days during our month long visit) with extremely comfortable beds. It wasn’t necessary to use the air con or fans during our visit with a breeze keeping the unit manageably cool. The pool is located in a wonderful little oasis behind the building amongst beautifully manicured gardens. Ken and Colin were wonderful, helpful hosts for whom no request was a problem. This already exceptional apartment block is one of the best value in Port Douglas.“

“Perfect location, beautiful cafes and restaurants so close by. Beautiful walk up the main street and so close to the beach. The customer service by the manager was perfect. An ice machine for drinks available was a bonus. Gardens were pretty.“

“Relaxed couples getaway”
“My wife and I stayed several nights in early December and although the weather wasn’t on our side, we had a lovely stay. Ken and Colin made us feel like guests, not just customers.
There are so many good restaurants within easy walking distance and Macrossan Street is lined with interesting shops to browse. We would happily stay again and can’t recommend this resort enough, particularly if you like peace and quiet.“
“Friendly and civilised accommodation in a busy resort town”
“A pleasant week spent at Martinique was facilitated by Ken and Colin who ensured all our holiday plans were arranged and the facilities were maintained to the highest standard. The self-contained apartment was well equipped and barbeque facilities always ready for use in a shared, comfortable, communal area. Cold water and ice always available.
The Martinique is less than 50 metres from the beach and the walk across town to the Marina only 15 minutes. The pool is a pleasant place to relax with friendly social atmosphere. The balconies have a relaxed ambience in amongst tall tropical trees and ferns between nearby resorts.
With the warm weather we spent more time at the pool and around the beachfronts than sitting in our apartment.
Martinique is characterised by the ambience created by the facilities, the tropics, and the management.
We’re looking forward to our next visit… that was a week well spent.“

“Catch up with old friends”
“Our hosts, Ken and Colin, were most welcoming and went out of their way to ensure our stay with them was trouble-free. The building is very close to the beach and also the heart of Port Douglas but is also very quiet.
The vegetation surrounding the building gives a nice tropical feel and is well maintained. Room was spotless clean and facilities are available to make light meals including microwave and stove top.
Ken and Colin were very helpful including setting up the BBQ area for us to cater for visiting friends. The pool area is quiet and beautifully appointed with seating, pool towels and ample steps in the pool to sit and chat. Look forward to staying again next visit to Port.“
“Great apartment and Great Services to stay with…”
“Martinique apartment is like a European apartment which lied on the main strip of Port Douglas.
A really comfortable place to stay nice and neat/clean which is so convenient and are close to everything on Macrossan Street. You can take a breeze down at the beaches or reach your favorites restaurants/shops within walking distance. I find that the apartment itself lie in a great location not too quiet and not too loud, just right!
For the guys, “Thank you” to both Ken & Colin who were really helpful hosts and are fabulous. “Thank you” very much for everything that both my wife and I are really appreciated while our stayed at your apartment. Definitely will revisit one day in the future. Very happy!“

“The apartments are perfectly situated a short walk to the beach and all shops and restaurants are very close . The apartment was very spacious, well-furnished and very clean. The kitchen had everything we could have needed for cooking light meals and the barbeque area was really lovely and all utensils /oils and condiments were available to use. The pool area is just so relaxing, with lovely gardens and comfy sun lounges.
Ken and Colin are just the most pleasant, kind and friendly managers i have ever encountered on my travels. Nothing was ever a problem, Ken recommended and booked great tours with wonderful companies and we were very thankful for your kindness and caring with my partially disabled husband. They even have a ground floor disabled adapted apartment with no steps and full access to Macrossan Street suitable for a wheelchair.
It’s a very popular apartment so you may have to book in advance for this apartment. We had a most enjoyable and relaxing holiday and we will be back again soon.“
“Excellent Place to Stay and Great Location”
“The Matinique is such a quaint little hotel. Much better than staying in one of the crazy large resorts. The two guys that run the hotel are so accommodating. We were arriving late (we emailed to tell them, and they offered to arrange the transport to and from Cairns airport without prompting!), but they made sure to have the keys in the room for us and a full informative note for us upon arrival. However, they made sure to say “Hi” to use everytime we left the hotel. It is reassuring to see the same people each day and know that they care about the place.
The rooms are very nice and clean. The relaxing patio and pool more than make up for it. Just go hang out there if you want some chill time. The location is awesome. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the beach and a five minute walk from the main street of restaurants and bars. We saw people from the resorts down the road having to take cars and taxis to the main street, but we were able to pop in and out when we wanted to drop shopping off in the room. All the tours you take will also know exactly where you are, so don’t worry about that.
All in all, I can’t recommend staying here enough. Such a great spot!“
“The Perfect Place!”
“I just spent 10 lovely days at this property and so glad I did. First, Ken and Colin, the hosts are terrific. They want your stay to be memorable and they attend to your wishes. They will suggest various tours in the area and book them for you.
As far as the property goes you couldn’t ask for better. The position in the town allows for shorts walks to many fine dining establishments AND is a 2 minute walk to the beach. Martinique is not in the middle of town so you are spared the noise.
The tranquil gardens make you feel as if you are in your own rain forest. Their pool is one of the best I’ve ever used.
The rooms are all 1-bedroom with large lounge room and a kitchenette that is fully stocked with pots, pans and dishes. Each unit has its own verandah which again surrounded by lust tropical plants. It’s quiet and peaceful. Adults only complex with just 19 rooms.
I just can’t say enough about the hosts. They are so nice and do everything they can to make your stay memorable. You gotta try it!“

“Wonderful little ‘Adults Only’ hotel right in the heart of Port Douglas. Located at the quiet end of Macrossan Street, one minute’s walk from four mile beach in one direction and restaurants and shops in the opposite direction.
Clean and extremely quiet, with well equipped rooms (especially with regards to kitchen tools!) and a general ambience of a tropical retreat. The pool area is like a hidden haven, surrounded by lush foliage, the only sound being the gently trickling water features. The owners couldn’t be nicer and their friendly welcome makes you feel immediately at home and at rest.“

“We had a lovely quiet corner room on the top floor looking out onto Macrossan Street.
The beautiful boutique apartment property is located only meters away from Four Mile Beach and the main shopping/restaurant precinct of Port Douglas. The property in impeccably maintained and the hosts Ken and Colin are both lovely and helpful.
There is parking at the property at no charge and there are also laundry facilities available.
This was our second stay at this wonderful location and we again had a fabulous relaxing holiday and would not hesitate to recommend the property.“
